I received my upgrade for my Wordsearch 7 Bible Software about a month ago. It is excellent! I am very impressed. I have been using Bible software for years, and this is the best I have ever seen. If you're interested, read additional comments here.
As we rush full steam ahead into the Christmas season, it is time to look back on this year, and somehow try to catch up our friends with what has been going on.
I guess the biggest change in our lives has been Deb's jobs. Last year at this time, Deb was working as a social worker for Greene County Children's services. Early this year she was hired as a police dispatcher, a job she had applied for even before she went to GCCS. They laid her off 8 weeks later. Upset and distraught, she applied to work as a waitress at Olive Garden. She really enjoyed it! Much less stress for the pay than the other jobs, but the evening hours were a bit hard on the rest of us. She is currently working as a lunchtime waitress at a place just around the corner from home.
Up until a few months ago, Courtney was planning on attending Nyack College this past fall. However, when the financial aid picture became clear, it was obvious she was going to need significant student loans to go there. Since she is still planning on being a missionary down the road, she did not want to get in debt, so she is currently enrolled at our local community college and staying at home. It is literally a fraction of the cost. As soon as he heard she was going to be in town, the youth pastor at our church offered her a paid internship to help with the Jr. High and High School ministries. Courtney is also dealing with a carpal tunnel injury to her right wrist. It may require surgery.
Dane is a senior in high school, but is taking all his classes at Sinclair as well. They count for both high school and college credit, and the state pays for it. It is a great deal. When he graduates this spring he will have nearly two years of college done for free. We are not sure where he will end up next fall, though rumor has it he would like to live in a big city.
Audrey and Seth are both doing great in school. Both were on a swim team this summer. Seth also played T-ball and is going to start basketball soon. He is the most athletic of any of our kids. Audrey is busy on the E-Team at church. The perform at kids church every Sunday and at other churches once every other month or so. She primarily does skits and narration, and really enjoys it.
I guess that covers most of the exciting news of 2004, but stay tuned, for 2005 looks like it is going to be even more exciting. Please enjoy the Christmas season as we celebrate the birth of the king, and may his best be yours in the coming year!
