Failed Guyver from Fewture

Here's a 1/5 scale full figure of a Failed Guyver sculpted by Yasushi Nirasawa and put out by Fewture in the early 1990s.  I bought this at the Fall 2003 Chiller show and started working on it right away.  Yes, that means it took me more than a year to finish it.  I originally painted it gray but the color really didn't suit the figure so we decided black would be more appropriate.  I think the black and purple/reds really came out nice.  I included an earlier picture so you can see the gray.

I used every technique I know of on this figure (except airbrushing).  Some of the shading is pastels, some watercolors, some inks, some washes, colored pencils, and a lot of drybrushing.  The inks I used were Dr PH Martin's Bombay india inks.  These has an incredible amount of pigment and the red will actually cover the black (check out any of the bone plates).  The blue eyes are transparent glass paint and the spheres on the base are covered with the iridescent color change blue paint I love to use (gives them that nice glow).  He was given a good coat of Dull Coat then I drybrushed a satin finish onto the exposed muscles and the bloody base.
