Spike from CD Productions

This is a 1/4 scale kit of the Cenobite Spike.  Who the heck is Spike?  He was to be in Hellraiser 6 but his scenes were cut.  A shame really, he's got character.

Chris Elizardo put a lot of little detail in this kit.  There is texture on every surface. Skin textures, muscle textures, little hooks...lotsa little details. This kit will be a joy to paint to someone like me who loves to drybrush.  It's really fun to paint a bloody kit -- any mistakes are easily solved with a few splatters of red.

Most detail work was done by drybrushing.  I did use some inks to do some of the blood splatters and stains.  I used Delta Antiquing Glaze on the base which turned out well.  You brush it one then rub it off so it only stays in the recesses...bad news, if the paint is not cured it will pull the paint off.  I learned this the hard way.  The flash from the camera made the bodysuit appear more blue than it is in person, same with the red blood stains; they don't stand out as much when looking at the piece in normal light.  The mottled look on the helmet was done by painting black and white dots then drybrushing silver over them.  Gives a nice beaten metal appearance.
