Women of the ELCA

Who Are? What Is? Women of the ELCA?

Women of the ELCA are women just like you. We vary in age from young women to older grandmothers, stay-at home moms to office executives, sports- minded to couch potatoes, crafty to artistic—well, you get the picture, we are women. What unites us, amid all our differences, is our love for God and the desire to share that love with others. We join together in small groups (usually) called circles for friendship, fun, and Bible study. But if you support WELCA in any way, such as donating an item for one of the kits for Lutheran World Relief or coming to the Mother-Daughter Banquet, you are one of us. The one thing we can give you that no other social organization can is support for and the opportunity to deepen your relationship with Christ.

Currently we have three circles at St. John’s meeting on different days and at different times. If you would be interested in more information about any of these circles, or if you would like to start a new circle at a time that is more convenient for you, please call the church office. The circles are:

Agape, meets at 7:00p.m. in the church parlor the first Monday of each month.

Koinonia / Joy, meets at 9:30a.m. in the church parlor the third Tuesday of each month.

Peace, meets at 7:00p.m. in the church parlor the third Tuesday of each month.

One-Day Retreat:
Joy Circle has taken a suggestion from the May issue of Lutheran Women Today (LWT) magazine and we plan to meet only once through the summer.

We’re planning a one-day retreat Saturday, July 12th from 9:45 AM till 2:45 PM.  Please contact the church office for location.

There will be 3 Bible Study sessions, one-hour each. The three sessions will be published in the June and the July-August issues of LWT magazine. They will focus on Water in our Lives. If you don’t subscribe to LWT, we will have copies of the study available for you.

All women are invited to come, bring a friend, your Bible and LWT’s, a lawn chair, and your choice of cold drink. Car pooling will be available. We Plan to be outdoors—weather permitting. Breakfast snack of rolls, coffee, tea, and juice, along with lunch will be furnished. There is no cost. We will need RSVP’s at a later date. Look for info in the bulletin.
