January 2008 Prayer Intention: For an increase in vocations to the Priesthood and Religious life. For an end to abortion and a respect for all life from birth to natural death For our military personnel and their families. Fr. Szybka : Fr. Joe congratulated the group on the Holy Hour and Social held January 6. He said it was very inspiring to see so many there. This is vocation awareness week and the Serra Club presented the schools with posters sponsoring the awareness. He also had prayer services with the students and a mass at Calvert. He announced that there will be a Order up Breakfast after the 8:30 Mass for Vocations on Saturday February 2 in the St. Joseph Cafeteria. He will give a talk on our spiritual lives. All men are invited and the program will be over by 11:00 A.M. Presidents message: Vice-president Pat Englehart conducted the meeting in the absence of Denny. She read a letter from Sr. Marie Catherine thanking us for the invitation to the Holy Hour and social and that because of past surgery would not be able to attend. Also letters of regret by the Sisters of St. Francis were read. Committee reports were given. Tom Welter reminded everyone that items and money would be collected at the February 5 meeting for the seminarians care packages. He said that the World day of prayer for consecrated life will be February 3 and that we will be sending out cards to all the nuns in Seneca County. He asked each member to take a few of the cards and write a personal comment and mail the cards to the sisters so they receive them by February 2. Also a piece will be put in the Advertiser Tribune. Speakers: Our January 6 meeting was the Holy Hour conducted by Fr. Joe Szybka for all members and Religious. Deacon Dan Scherger assisted. A social followed in the Upper Room with 58 members and guests attending. January 15- Jennifer Zoeller spoke on Your are never alone She told stories from kindergartners answering Where is God. Also told of her experiences where God has answered her prayers and how she talks to God. She encouraged everyone to talk everyday to God and that he listens to all of us. Life is about love and we should live each day as if it was our last. We should give the gift of time to the Giver of love.
